Plan & Appendices
FFY 2018-2019 to 2021-2022
In response to requirements pursuant to its designation as Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) prepares the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) for Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties biennially. The MTIP is a four-year program whereby transportation facilities, improvements and service related projects are programmed for federal, State and/or local funding. The MTIP is the document through which federal transportation funds are made available to projects.
Transportation Project Planning
The Monterey Bay MTIP: FFY 2018-19 to 2021-22 (2018 MTIP) is the region’s short range transportation programming document that contains transportation improvement projects including:
- public mass transit
- highway
- bridge
- local road
- bicycle
- pedestrian
Projects are proposed for funding based on anticipated available federal, state and local funding over the next four years (FFY 2018-19 to FFY 2021-22). All projects that receive federal funds, are subject to a federally required action, or are regionally significant need to be included in the MTIP. The MTIP must be financially constrained and must be updated at least every four years. The MTIP must be consistent with AMBAG’s 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategies (MTP/SCS) for the tri-county (Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties) Metropolitan Planning Region.
2018 MTIP Program Plan Documents
The AMBAG Board of Directors adopted the Monterey Bay MTIP: FFY 2018-19 to FFY 2021-22 at their September 26, 2018 meeting. The document received Federal approval on December 17, 2018.
