Short Term Economic Outlook
This year, the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments and the Monterey County Business Council co-hosted the 2010 Monterey Regional Economic Forum. Entitled "Partner, Promote and Prosper", this year's even was held on Friday, April 23, 2010 in Seaside, CA. Hundreds of business leaders and public sector professionals attend this conference each year to gain an encriched perspective on the economic helath and potential of our region. The 2010 Monterey Bay Area Short Term Economic Outlook Report serves as an informational reference document for this event, providing an analysis of recent trends in the region's economy and implications for the future. 2010 Census Data
The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments is the designated regional census affiliate and collects census data for each jurisdiction in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties. The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States. It is mandated by Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution and takes place every 10 years. The data collected by the decennial census determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and is also used to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities. People from many walks of life use census data to advocate for causes, rescue disaster victims, prevent diseases, research markets, locate pools of skilled workers and more. AMBAG Regional Forecast
Approximately every five years, the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments produces a forecast of population, housing and employment for the region spanning the counties of Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz. Each forecast is produced with the best available data and is extensively reviewed by AMBAG’s member agencies. Once completed, the forecast is used to provide data support for AMBAG’s regional Travel Demand Model, other long term regional planning documents, special districts’ master plans, as well as to support city and county long range planning.
