State of the Region Report (2005) - $30.00

The annual State of the Region Report for Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz Counties provides an improved understanding of the area and a gauge to which quality of life can be better measured using key indicators.

Released in January by the Regional and Planning Services, Inc., the non-profit organization of the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments, the report provides an overview of key indicators compiled from federal, state, local, public and private agencies. The report features data such as: trends on population, household size, employment, percentage of families in poverty, mode of travel, educational attainment, air quality violations, waste disposal rates, and taxable sales, to name of few.

The full color State of the Region Report for Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz Counties is available for the purchase price of $30.00.

City of Marina Coastal/Vernal Ponds Comprehensive Management Plan (1994) - available for viewing in the AMBAG Library.

This plan identifies the hydrologic conditions, biological resources, and land uses of the seven coastal vernal ponds within Marina, based upon a 10-month study of these wetland resources. The plan also identifies specific measures to be conducted at each pond to preserve, protect and enhance these sensitive resources. Elkhorn Slough Uplands Water Quality Management Plan (1993) -- $20

This plan evaluates the effectiveness of erosion control Best Management Practices (BMPs) for strawberry production which limit pesticide movement from farm fields into the waters of Elkhorn Slough.

Farming Practices Survey and Outreach Recommendations for the Elkhorn Slough Uplands Water Quality Management Plan (1993) -- $10

This study is a detailed examination of the farming conditions within the Elkhorn Slough watershed from a socio-economic standpoint. It identifies the current soil erosion control practices, examines related social and economic factors, and makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness or erosion control outreach efforts in the watershed.

Harbor Best Management Practices: A Management Plan to Reduce Overboard Discharge of Human and Solid Wastes, Fuels and Marine By-Products from the Marine Waters of Southern Monterey Bay (1996) -- $20

This plan identifies strategies to minimize the discharge of pollutants associated with boating and related activities in Monterey Bay and its harbors.

Lower Salinas River: Near Coastal Waters Initiative Pilot Project (1992) -- $10

This study addresses the use of pesticides in the lower Salinas Valley and their potential impact to water quality in both the Salinas River and Monterey Bay.

Northern Salinas Valley Watershed Restoration Plan: Final Report of AMBAG's Water Quality Planning Project Entitled Nonpoint Source Pollution in Coastal Harbors & Slough of the Monterey Bay Region: Problem Assessment & Best Management Practices (1997) -- $20

This plan proposes an adaptive water quality management plan for the Northern Salinas Valley Watershed through restoration of former wetland and riparian areas.

Prepared for the Pajaro River Watershed Flood Prevention Authority, the report presents the results of hydrologic and sediment modeling work. It will help to guide and direct future phases of the Watershed Study.

Pajaro River Watershed Water Quality Management Plan (1998) -- $40

This plan is a guide for the Pajaro River Watershed Council, public agencies and other non-governmental organizations in planning and implementing projects and programs that will reduce water quality problems in the watershed.

Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin Management Plan (1993) -- $25

This plan addresses groundwater supply and quality issues in the EPA designated "sole source" aquifer for Scotts Valley and parts of the San Lorenzo Valley.

Urban Runoff Water Quality Management Plan for the Monterey Bay Region (1993) -- $20

This plan addresses the issue of pollution due to stormwater runoff from the urbanized coastal areas in the Monterey Bay region.

Water Resources Management Plan for the Watsonville Slough System (1995) -- $25

This plan assesses water quality problems in the Watsonville Sloughs wetland system in southern Santa Cruz County, and recommends several measures to improve water quality there.

Regional Housing Needs Plan 2000 - 2007 for Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties (2002) -- $40

Provides a detailed picture of housing conditions and needs in each jurisdiction in the AMBAG region. Included AMBAG's forecast of required new housing units and estimates of each jurisdiction's fair share of lower income households.

Livable Community Initiative for the Monterey Bay Region: Creative Transportation Choices Through Zoning (1995) -- $10

Livable Community Initiative for the Monterey Bay Region is a policy initiative to reduce congestion and its environmental impacts. This report includes a review of related literature and adopted plans, policy principles recommended for local adoption and cost/benefits analysis of recommended policies. The Creative Transportation Choices through Zoning is a guide for making local zoning codes more transit and pedestrian friendly.

Monterey Bay Area - Silicon Valley Inter-Regional Partnership Study, Phase Two Report, Analysis of Anticipated Growth in Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties, 2000-2025 (2002) -- $10.00 (black and white); or $8.00 cd-rom

This report analyzes information related to land use; population; jobs and classes of workers; households; commuting patterns and modes; travel speeds; roadway congestion trends; and other socio-economic data such as educational attainment, income and housing affordability. The study's purpose is to understand the effects of anticipated growth in the Monterey Bay Area-Silicon Valley Inter-Regional partnership study area. The analysis from this phase will be the basis for the next phase of the study -- identifying and analyzing constraints to improving the balance of jobs and housing at the regional and local level; and developing, evaluating and selecting mitigation strategies.

AMBAG's 2004 Population and Employment Forecast -- $10

The 2004 Population and Employment Forecast Report presents a countywide employment forecast through to the year 2030 and a population forecast at the census tract, city, and regional levels. All data is presented in five-year intervals. It also includes an analysis of potential resource and infrastructure constraints to growth.

Airports Economic Study for the AMBAG Region -1991 -- $10

This study evaluated the economic impacts of airports, in the local vicinity served by each airport, in Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Counties.

Central Coast Modeling Study Cordon Survey Final Results Report (1995) -- $10

This report summarizes the results of 7,000 respondents to the first weekday interview survey ever conducted at the cordon (boundary) of the central coast region of Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties. The survey was conducted by Caltrans with the assistance of AMBAG, TAMC, SCCRTC, and the Santa Clara County Transportation Agency, and interviewed a sample of all motorists traveling from the Monterey Bay region to the rest of California.

Monterey Bay Metropolitan Transportation Plan (2002) -- $25

The Monterey Bay Metropolitan Transportation Plan is a long-range plan outlining transportation policies, directions and alternatives in the region. Project lists of funded and unfunded regional transportation projects are included.

Monterey Bay Transportation Public Involvement Process (1995) -- Free

This document outlines the public involvement requirements for transportation planning in the Monterey Bay region. Forums for public participation, such as Citizen Advisory Committee are described, and the process in which public involvement is solicited is explained.

Monterey Peninsula Airport Passenger Survey (1996) -- $10

This document outlines travel characteristics of Monterey Peninsula Airport users with comparisons to the relevant travel studies in the region.

Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) FY2002/03 to FY2004/05 -- $15

The MTIP is a staged three-year program of urban transportation improvements. Among the projects included in the MTIP are transit, local street and State highway, transit and bicycle/pedestrian improvements with funding commitments.

Regional Airport System Plan (1991) -- $20

The RASP examines in depth the various components of the regional aviation systems in order to determine the current status of the system, project future growth of aviation in the region, and define the future needs of each element of the system throughout the year 2005.

Regional Airport System Plan Update (1995) -- $10

The 1995 RASP update covers significant changes to the AMBAG region general aviation outlook since the 1991 RASP. The focus of these changes is the conversion of Fritzsche Army Airfield to Marina Municipal Airport.

Regional Freight Study Final Report (1995) -- $20

This 149-page final report is the first and only source of information on air, truck, rail freight movement, facilities, and services in the Monterey Bay region, with a special emphasis on the movement of agricultural produce. The report identifies the volumes of truck traffic and how this traffic impacts specific streets and roads throughout the region. A forecast of growth in the shipment of agricultural produce is provided, and deficiencies and needs are identified. Recommendations are provided for key problems that are, and will increasingly affect the efficiency of the movement of agricultural produce in the region.

Salinas Valley Intercity Transportation Study (1993)

A. Phase I Needs Assessment & Feasibility Analysis--$10

This study evaluated the need and/or opportunity for intercity transportation in the Highway 101 corridor of the Salinas Valley area of southern Monterey County.

B. Phase II Implementation Plan -- $6

This study phase was focused as a planning document and a management tool for decision-makers to use in implementing and monitoring recommended service improvements.

Salinas Valley Short Range Transit Plan (1999)

The Salinas Valley Short Range Transit Plan evaluates the demand responsive transit system of the cities of Soledad, Greenfield and King City. Five-year operating, capital and financial plans are prepared for each system.
