Monterey Bay Area Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Together with the Monterey Bay Area Electric Vehicle Alliance, AMBAG is preparing is a charging station plan that will locate the best points for electric vehicle charging stations throughout the tri-county area. That plan will provide for a staged roll-out of charging stations, placing charging stations in the highest priority areas with available funding, and then, with additional funding, AMBAG will partner with other agencies in placing electric vehicle charging stations in our region to provide the infrastructure vital to supporting widespread electric vehicle use in our region.
Central Coast Commercial Flows Study
In colloboration with Caltrans District Five, Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, San Luis Obispo Council of Governments and the three regional RTPAs, AMBAG is working to identify the most important freight movement bottlenecks along the Central Coast, and to identify solutions for freight movement problems in the five counties of the Central Coast (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz). Once complete, the study will identify capital improvements and legislative priorities to meet freight movement challenges along the Central Coast.
Monterey Truck-to-Rail Intermodal Feasibility Study
In conjunction with the Central Coast Commercial Flows Study, AMBAG is preparing a study to identify obstacles and opportunties for a major truck-to-rail intermodal facility for Monterey County to facilitate freight movements in our region. This study is one of several important steps that must be taken by regional partners to research the business potential of an intermodal facility, engineering requirements and other needs to potentially reduce the dependence of agriculture and other industries on the road network.
