AMBAG has taken leadership in many programs such as the following:
Intellingent Transportation Systems: The Central Coast Region has a long history of planning and designing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Beginning in 1998, stakeholder agencies from the 5-County region (Santa Cruz, San Benito, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara) came together to collaboratively begin the process to determine the region’s viability to apply ITS to the area’s transportation challenges.
Energy Watch: For more than 25 years, energy efficiency programs have helped Californians save energy, save money and help protect the environment. To that end, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) have partnered to deliver the AMBAG Energy Watch Program.
Commute Alternatives: Commute Alternatives promotes the use of sustainable transportation modes such as carpooling, vanpooling, riding transit, walking, bicycling, and teleworking. Our mission is to reduce traffic congestion and automobile emissions while optimizing the use of the existing transportation infrastructure in the Monterey Bay region. |
